Referring to Dr Vijaya Chitreddy
Dr Chitreddy accepts referrals for adults and children with skin, hair and nail conditions, including skin cancer, inflammatory skin disease, hair loss and women's dermatology. You can refer electronically through SR Refer, or by fax or email.
Refer electronically with SR Refer
Dr Chitreddy accepts referrals through SR Refer (SR Specialists & Referrals), which sends the referral securely over HealthLink from your clinical software, including Best Practice, Medical Director, Genie, MedTech and Zedmed.
- From the patient's record, open HealthLink Forms and choose SR Specialists & Referrals.
- Search for Chitreddy and select Dr Vijaya Chitreddy, Balwyn Dermatology.
- Complete the referral, attach any results, and submit.

Not using SR Refer? Use our online GP referral form: enter the patient's name, date of birth and contact details, and attach your referral letter.
Urgent referrals
For suspected melanoma or another urgent concern, please phone the clinic on (03) 8383 3750 as well as sending the referral, so we can prioritise the appointment. Reception takes calls Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 5 pm.
Dr Chitreddy consults on Tuesdays, by appointment only.
What to include
- Reason for referral and how urgent it is
- Relevant history, current medicines and allergies
- Previous biopsy or pathology results
- Clinical or dermoscopic photos, if you have them
- Recent blood tests, if done (for example, for hair loss)
After the consultation
Dr Chitreddy will write to you after your patient's appointment with her assessment and management plan.
Patients are billed privately and can claim a Medicare rebate with a valid referral. A GP referral is valid for 12 months unless you specify otherwise.
